About John A. Tatooles
After attending the University of Wisconsin in 1965, Jack Tatooles served in the United States Navy/Fleet Marine Corps. He was deployed for two combat tours of duty in Vietnam from 1965 to 1967 and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star and Ribbon Bar, National Defense Service Medal, Fleet Marine Combat Insignia, Ribbon Bar, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medals, among others.
Upon return from his tours of duty he attended The John Marshall Law School and was graduated with a Juris Doctor Degree in 1970.
Jack has served as Administrative Aide to two Illinois Attorney Generals and later became an Assistant States Attorney for the Cook County prosecutor’s office. He was assigned to the criminal misdemeanor and felony divisions where he prosecuted hundreds of criminal jury and bench trials. When he left the States Attorney Office in 1973 Jack was serving in the capacity of supervisor of Northwestern Suburban Cook County.
In November of 1973 he established his general practice of law and the firm is currently located in Inverness. With over 40 years of experience in the areas of law that includes: criminal defense, divorce and family law, DUI, both residential and commercial real estate transactions, commercial zoning and litigation, corporate and business entity formation, personal injury, wrongful death, and estate planning, among others. He has also served on the boards of directors of several major corporations.
Located in the northwest suburban area, Jack represents clients not only in Chicago metropolitan area but also in the Cook County outlying districts as well as the collar counties of Lake, DuPage, McHenry and Kane.
He has been admitted to practice in: the State of Illinois, the Illinois and United States Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. District Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and the U.S. Military Court of Appeals.
Jack has served as the Mayor of the Village of Inverness, Illinois since 1997 to present
and has presided over the financial soundness of his community. He has maintained low tax rates and has earned Inverness a coveted AAA Bond Rating. Among his proudest accomplishments is the establishment of the first ever Inverness Police Department in 2009 that not only provides excellent and dedicated service to Inverness residents but has also saved the Village several million dollars.
An experienced trial lawyer, his academic achievements and extensive experience both in criminal and civil matters has given him acute skills and knowledge and an advantage in his practice of law.
